Ed Sheeran: 'Shape Of You' Singer To Form Own Boy Band; Will It Be Another K-Pop Group Or Not?
The famous "Shape Of You" singer is planning to have his own boy group. According to an interview, Ed Sheeran has announced about debuting about 3-4 members of his own band.
Ed Sheeran shared in an interview with Rolling Stone that he is planning to make his own boy band and in fact, he has already written several songs for them. However, the 26-year-old singer will not be in the group itself, but he will definitely bring his new group on his tours.
Although there's no confirmation whether Ed Sheeran's new group will be Korean or not, there's no doubt about the talents and influence that K-Pop groups have made when it comes to boy bands. In fact, there were major K-Pop idols who have made it worldwide such as BIGBANG who have over 13 million albums sold and a huge earning of about $44 million.
"[Ed Sheeran] talks about the future. He's in the process of auditioning members of a boy band he's creating. He's already written lots of songs for the group - 'really, really decent. Superpop, but obviously credible. I'm gonna put three or four boys together and do all the songs, take them on the stadium tour with me," as per Rolling Stone's interview with Sheeran.
Despite the strong competition in the international music industry, as cited by Koreaboo, K-Pop groups and idols have found their spot on it, garnering a plethora of fans and amazing album sales. Although One Direction is still considered as the top boy bands in the world, BTS, EXO, TVXQ, and SHINee have proven how worthy of bands they are by just basing on the million of albums that they are able to get sold.
Because of this, K-Pop groups were noticed immediately not only by Korean and international fans but also by the music executives. And, although K-pop was once considered as only a fad, it has proven that it can survive and acquire many more fans as times passes by.
