'Hwarang: The Beginning' Finale Recap: Sammaekjong, Moo-myung Fight For Power; Next King Is People's Beloved

"Hwarang: The Beginning", or otherwise known as "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth," aired the final episode on Feb. 21. The KBS historical drama came to a close with episode 20, which revealed who will be the next king to the throne of the Kingdom of Silla.

Spoilers for the final "Hwarang: The Beginning" chapter initially exposed that the final episode will focus on Sammaekjong and Moo-myung's fight to determine the next king of the kingdom. There are prior speculations, however, that the majority of the people in Silla prefered Moo-myung to be the next king. In the actual episode, the power struggle continued and the viewers reportedly became more interested in finding out how the show will conclude, Soompi reported.

"Hwarang: The Beginning" finale featured a confrontation between the two Hwarang warriors. In fact, the episode highlighted the heated altercation, wherein both warriors were seen with their swords pointed at each other. The "Hwarang: The Beginning" promo video events were also confirmed as a confrontation also took place.

Meanwhile, "Hwarang: The Beginning" episodes 19 and 20 also featured King Jinheung making a sacrifice for Moo-myung.  Considering that the character of Go Ara risked her life for the male protagonist,  viewers were reportedly not interested to know if she will be the next to die.

The "Hwarang: The Beginning" also showed a group of children singing while on the streets of Silla. Later on, it highlighted the conversation between the Queen Mother Jiso and her son, where she tried to provoke him against Moo-myung, International Business Times reported.
