Sixers Not Playing Jahlil Okafor Due To A Potential NBA Trade; Jahlil Okafor Is Heading To The Pelicans
Jahlil Okafor of the Philadelphia 76ers has been sitting on the bench, since their game against the Miami Heat, due to the potential NBA trade. The Sixers management confirmed that Okafor is about to be dealt with the New Orleans Pelicans in the next couple of days.
The Fan-Sided said in their report that the Sixers head coach Brett Brown mentioned in an interview that they already discussed everything with Jahlil Okafor. Brown said that they talked to Okafor before the game against the Miami Heat that they will not play him out due to the potential trade discussion.
Brett Brown and the Sixers praised Jahlil Okafor for being a professional athlete. They make sure that Okafor really understands the process and thus will not accept the situation a complicated matter.
The Philadelphia 76ers has been in the NBA trade rumors over the past months, due to the fact that they have acquired lots of big-man. The Sixers are now starting to make a move to fix the issue and align the playing time to the remaining big man they have, including the paint-protector Nerlens Noel and the recovering Joel Embiid.
Jahlil Okafor led the Sixers last season in scoring, with the fact that it was also his NBA debut season. Okafor has been a great offensive player for the Sixers, but he was criticized due to his awful defense.
The ESPN said that Jahlil Okafor was overshadowed by the emerging Joel Embiid. Embiid was sidelined for 2 years due to his foot injury right before he was drafted, he is now currently playing in limited minutes, but has been the Sixers' best contributor since he played.
Okafor on the other hand would be a great backup center to Anthony Davis. Jahlil Okafor spent most of his nights this season coming off the bench with a decreased playing time, but was able to contribute well in the offense.
