'Mass Effect: Andromeda' News: Title Rated MA 15+ by Australia for 'Strong Sex Scenes'
The Australian Classification Board has just released its rating of "Mass Effect: Andromeda." The title has received a rating of MA 15+, which means the game can only be played by people aged 15 and above.
What Australia Thinks of "Andromeda"
According to Just Push Start, the Australian Classification Board commented that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" contains "strong sex scenes and violence, online interactivity." The board went on to note that the title has a moderate impact on drugs, nudity, language, and violence.
Is BioWare Pushing for Porn?
The previous "Mass Effect" titles have always featured some love scenes though they can't really be considered games which are porn-natured. While it can be difficult at this point to conclude if the developer is slowly starting to introduce themes that are pornographic in nature, the latest from the ACB may be a good hint to start with.
WWG, a division of Comic Book, suggests that BioWare may be planning to introduce porn into the franchise with "Mass Effect: Andromeda." The outlet further points out that fans have been asking for a title that would give them more than what the previous installments in the franchise offered. This time, BioWare seems to have heeded the calls.
Crafting and Weapon-Naming in "Andromeda"
Meanwhile, Eurogamer reported on Tuesday that the game's lead designer, Ian S. Frazier, has confirmed that fans will be able to craft their own weapons in "Mass Effect: Andromeda." In a post on Twitter, Frazier said, "PRO TIP: In MEA, you can craft your own krogan-style hammer and name it GRABTHAR'S HAMMER. That one's free, folks. #space."
This is the first time in the "Mass Effect" franchise that players will be allowed to create their own weapons and give these items names. It was previously confirmed that hammers and swords can be crafted and named. This time, Ian S. Frazier has dropped the bomb: the new feature is applicable to melee weapons in "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
"MEA" Release Date
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is set to land on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One March 21 in North America. European fans will have to wait until March 23 to get their hands on the title.
