Trump's Inauguration Cost Revealed
The inauguration of a US president to pay an oath requires only 35 words, but the security, glamor, and festivities that surround it have a high cost that can make hundreds of millions of dollars. However, Donald Trump and his new management have at their disposal the money to meet the expenses.
As revealed, based on past ceremonies and official estimates for the inauguration of the new administration, the cost of the event can reach the impressive figure of USD 200 million, by high spending on security and intelligence. Thousands of FBI, Secret Service, and National Guard employees work up to a year in advance to ensure no incidents occur. Therefore, this part of the account, which can be around USD 100 million, is paid by the State.
The final price also varies according to other factors, such as the number of event attendees and even the weather. However, all the extra paraphernalia is assumed by the private sector as Trump carries a wide advantage over his predecessors.
The Committee of Presidential Investiture has raised more than $ 90 million in private donations, a record high and well above that of the two oaths of Barack Obama, whose committees met USD 55 million in 2009 and $43 million in 2013.
But while he has raised more money for his investiture than any other US president in history, Trump does not plan to spend all that money. Planning chief Tom Barrack said the Republican team wants to avoid a "circus atmosphere" and prefers an attitude of "hands-on" that surrounds Trump "with the soft sensuality of the place."
Meanwhile, Trump promised a "very elegant very day," with "huge crowds" and in recent days indicated that the ceremony would be bigger than outlined in previous weeks. In addition, this Tuesday highlighted that people are coming "in record numbers" to Washington for events.
