The news outlet first predicted that the hybrid laptop could have possibly slated for an October 2016 release since the Pro 4 was released in the same month in 2015.

Speculations have it the tech giant has already given the manufacturing contract to Pegatron, which is also the one behind the Surface Studio. There were also claims saying that Microsoft Surface 5 will be launched in the first quarter of 2017.

Other reports suggest that the delayed release of the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is caused by the late arrival of the Kaby Lake processor. Pro 4's battery issues could possibly affect the development of the upcoming new hybrid laptop.

Meanwhile, Forbes has shared that Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is likely to feature the Kaby Lake focused Core i7. It added that the hybrid laptop might maintain Pro 4's up to 1TB of storage and over 16GB of RAM.

Moreover, the news outlet stated Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will come along with a much-improved rechargeable Surface Pen and USB-C or Thunderbolt ports. It has been speculated that the upcoming hybrid laptop could be more powerful than MacBook Pro 2016 and its predecessors should it shop the newest Kaby Lake processor.
