Netizens bashed actor Lee Jong Suk on social media for winning the Grand Prize at the 2016 MBC Drama Awards and for giving a curt acceptance speech.

The 27-year-old lead actor of MBC's drama "W," also known as "W - Two Worlds," took home the Daesang award Friday night with reportedly 130,000 fan votes during the ceremony.

The dashing actor walked on stage and thanked a few people and his fans in a speech that lasted for only 40 seconds. MCs Kim Kuk Jin and UEE joined the actor on stage and prompted him to speak more. Lee Jong Suk obliged but only spent the additional time to tell the audience that he took two relaxation herbal supplement pills and that he felt sleepy.

Netizens thought the actor's short speech was rude and disapproved of the winner, according to allkpop.

"Wow...to someone like him...Daesang? Did you guys watch him do the acceptance speech???" commented one netizen.

Then another who garnered many likes with this comment, "Kim So Yeon should've won..."

"Look at all these fans defending him, saying that he has a phobia of being in the center of the attention," wrote another. "Even if that's actually true, it's a daesang. Surely he can muster up a bit more things to say...It's rude to be so curt."

Disappointed netizens suggested that the ceremony just drop the Daesang category and replace it with two separate awards instead: an award for the most popular and an award for acting.

Lee Jong Suk's drama "W" took home the most number of awards. The show bagged the Drama of the Year, Top Excellence Actor for Lee Jong Suk, Top Excellence Award Actress for Han Hyoo Joo, Golden Acting Award Actor for Kim Eui Sung, Writer of the Year for Song Jae Jung and Best Couple Award for Lee Jong Suk and Han Hyoo Joo.

Lee Jong Suk confessed in a magazine interview with "W Korea" that he found the drama "challenging."

"I didn't realize that as the episodes progressed, I'd have more and more screen time. I think if I do this project well, I'll have gained a lot at the end of it," allkpop quoted him as saying.
