CL First Korean Female Solo Artist To Be On "Hot 100" Billboard Chart

The South Korean K-pop artist CL was recently ranked on the Billboard's "Hot 100" Chart with her latest debut single in the US entitled "Lifted."

CL is a member of the popular South Korean girl group 2NE1 under YG Entertainment. Her real name is Lee Chae-rin and she is a singer, rapper, songwriter and model. She had her first appearance in a song recording in 2007 for BIGBANG's song entitled "Intro." 2NE1 is a four-member K-pop group which debuted in 2009. The group has gained fame all over the world due to their hit song like "I Don't Care", "Fire," "I am The Best" and many more. Its members are CL, Dara, Bom, and Minzy. However, recently, Minzy, one of the members of the group left 2NE1 due to some personal reasons.

CL is currently establishing her name as a solo artist in the US and creating new hit records. She previously appeared in the "Late Late Show" with James Corden where she performed her first debut English single "Lifted" in the show.

On October 11th PST, CL was ranked at #94 on the charts two months after the release of her single "Lifted", making her the very first Korean female solo singer to be on that rank on the charts. CL has been promoting her single and she even had a tour in nine cities in North America.

As of the 12th KST, CL's latest single "Lifted" has gained over 17 million views in YouTube. "Lifted" is a song produced by YG Entertainment'sTeddy and written by CL, Teddy, and Asher Roth.

Furthermore, other Korean artists who have made a notable debut on the Billboard "Hot 100" Chart are: Wonder Girls ("Nobody" 2009) and PSY ("Gangnam Style" 2012, "Gentlemen" 2013, "Hangover" 2014, "Daddy" 2015). Moreover, CL got the highest rank ever recorded in the "Hot 100" Chart for a female South Korean solo artist.
