Koreans Make It To The Quarter Finals Of 2015 League Of Legends World Championships In London
The League of Legends Championships Quarter Finals are set to take place at the Wembley Arena in London this year where thousands of fans are expected to attend the event to watch the best summoners in the world, including Korean teams, battle for the grand prize, reported BBC in their article published on Friday.
Sixteen teams from around the world qualified for the League of Legends World group stages where they competed on four groups in Paris earlier this month. The top two winning teams were then qualified to compete at the Wembley Arena.
A knockout stage will be held next week in Brussels where the teams will be battling in a best-of-five matches format to determine who will make it to the semi-finals round.
The teams, consisting of five players each, include Origen, Flash Wolves, Ahq e-Sports Club, Fnatic, Edward Gaming and Korean teams SK Telecom, KT Rolster and KOO Tigers.
SB Nation noted in their play-by-play article on Thursday that top seed from Group A the Taiwanese Flash Wolves battled against European Origen, No. 2 seed from Group D, in the first playoff series of the knockout stage. Flash Wolves won in Game 3 after a 2-0 series lead by Origen, which was able to take Game 4 to seal the win.
The European and Taiwanese teams both went 4-2 during the group stage, where Origen's triumphs were mostly attributed to the improved play of member xPeke and the excellent team-fight decisions and shot-calling of the group.
Meanwhile, Flash Wolves saw an incredible play in the jungleand middle lane from members Karsa and Maple respectively.
The grand prize for the Summoners Cup awaiting the champion team include $1 million in prize money for the winning team and $250,000 for the second placer. And of course, bragging rights as the best team in the world.
