iPad Mini 5 Release Date, Specs, Price
The Apple iPad Mini 5 release date might be pushed to March 2017. The long-awaited successor to the iPad Mini 4 has no definite release date yet but may be expected to be released in the first quarter of next year.
In the latest September 7 event of Apple, there was no announcement about the iPad Mini 5 release date. Owners of the iPad Mini 4, which was released in September 2015, may be disappointed to find out that they need to wait longer to upgrade to the iPad Mini 5.
The iPad Mini has been a consistent key performer in Apple's tablet range, mostly because of its portability and cheaper price points.
It seems that Apple's March events for this year were focused on the iPad, as they released the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro last March 31, which suggests that March 2017 could be the target date for the iPad Mini 5 release. iPad Air 2's successor, the iPad Air 3, might also be revealed in March next year.
Aside from announcing the new iteration of the iPad Pro during their March 2016 event, Apple also announced its new iPhone SE, iOS 9.3 and new Apple Watch straps.
For their final event of 2016, Apple is planning on giving their MacBook line-up the spotlight, showcasing new models of the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with a revised iMac. This was the basis for the speculation on why the announcement of the new iPad Mini 5 release date will be pushed to next year.
iPad Mini 5 price isn't expected to change that much, since Apple has been dropping prices of the 16GB iPad Mini variants lately. This trend is expected to continue with the iPad Mini pricing. The iPad Mini 4 was released on September 9, 2015 at $399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model.
As for specs, we expect that the starting iPad Mini 5 tablet will be have a storage of 64GB. But that doesn't mean Apple can will forego their trend of having a cheaper 16GB option.
