SM Founder to Receive Award at Asia Game Changer Awards 2016

SM Entertainment Founder Receives A Prestigious International Award

SM Entertainment founder and producer, Lee Soo-man will receive a prestigious international award from a non-profit organization in the United States.

According to SM Entertainment, Lee's role for the influence of K-pop globally made the organization aspire him. The award will be given by the Asia Society which is an institution based in New York City during the Asia Game Changer Awards 2016. One of its goals is to expand the communication between Asians and Americans. It also foster in understanding Asia.

Lee Soo-man founded SM Entertainment company in 1995. Before he became a producer, he was a former singer and musician. Currently, his company, SM Entertainment is one of the largest and most prominent entertainment company in South Korea. Some popular SM artists are Super Junior, Girls' Generation, SHINee, and EXO.

Previously, Lee conducted and sponsored the SM Entertainment's vacation in Hawaii for the celebration of its 20th anniversary. The company had difficulty in arranging the event due to the different schedules of employees and artists. However, SM made it all the way as all the staff and artists joined the event and they made an unforgettable and treasurable memories together.

Lee is one of the eight honorees at Asia Game Changer Awards 2016 and he will be the first South Korean national who will receive that prestigious award.

"The award is designed to recognize those people making a transformative and positive difference for the future of Asia and the world. Lee is a K-pop pioneer and he will receive the award for turning one nation's pop culture into a global phenomenon," Asia society said.

The other recipients of the award include Muzoon Almellehan from Syria, who introduced education to Syrian refugees, and Sanduk Ruit from Nepal, who is an eye surgeon that healed and restored the eyesight of thousands of patients. Moreover, I.M. Pei who is a Chinese-American architect the first person to receive the Asia Game Changer Lifetime Achievement Award will also attend the awarding ceremony.

Furthermore, the awarding ceremony will be held at the United Nations in New York on October 27th.
