Vin Diesel Develops Rescue Drama Series: 'First Responders'
Vin Diesel is developing a new procedural drama at NBC, The Wrap reported.
The drama series, entitled "First Responders," tells the story of young military veterans struggling to reintegrate into society, while saving civilian lives along the way.
In the story, the "First Responders" are the best search-and-rescue operation in the country, and is run by husband-and-wife duo, Doc and Lil Pierce. Behind the couple's inspiring efforts, the pair struggle as they have been unable to find their own son who disappeared years earlier.
Vin Diesel will be an executive producer of the drama under his One Race Television banner, which currently has a first look deal with Universal Television.
ASAP Entertainment will also co-produce the series. Jesse Stern, known for his work on "NCIS" and the "Call of Duty" and "Titanfall" video games, will write the script.
Brad Peyton will direct the series.
Vin Diesel gained global renown from the "Fast & Furious" franchise. He recently wrapped production on the eighth "Fast" film, and will also see the sequel to his 2002 action hit "XXX" drop in 2017.
He previously produced the Crackle series "The Ropes," and is currently developing the series "Merc City," set in the "Chronicles of Riddick" universe.
