Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Patch 3.4 Will Arive On September 27

Some first few details of the next upcoming major patch in the third cycle of "Final Fantasy XIV" have finally been released, and as always, players should keep themselves up to date for the sake of levels and lore before the patch hits in a little under a month.

Last week featured the third anniversary of "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" and director Naoki Yoshida has deemed it fit to grace the players of the "Final Fantasy" franchise second full-fledged massively multiplayer online role playing game with some details about the future.

Reports indicate that just like with any major update to the game, patch 3.4 will feature the continuation of the main story questline. After defeating Nidhogg and finally beginning the full restoration and recovery of Ishgard and peace with Dravania, the plot will next focus on the Leveilleur twins and the Warriors of Darkness. While even the newest and most casual of players will be familiar with Alphinaud as he has been a major character throughout the main story, his twin sister Alisaie's last appearance as in the questline of the Binding Coil of Bahamut.

Being the major raid questline for the 2.0 "A Realm Reborn" content, a number of players may not have experienced the Coil of Bahamut as doing it was only optional to continue the main story and get to the 3.0 "Heavensward" content. This means that players may not be familiar with Alisaie after her sudden disappearance from the main story. Finishing the Coil of Bahamut questline will actually influence the new scenes included in update 3.4, so it is recommended to do so.

The Warriors of Darkness will finally make even more appearances, and players might finally be able to know just how these beings came to be and what are their relationship to the characters present in the CGI trailers. Of course, those who have yet to get to the point of their introduction in the main story might be confused as to who those people are on patch 3.4's main artwork, so better get caught up with those MSQs as well.

Speaking of raids, 3.4 "Soul Surrender" will also include the third and final chunk of the main raid questline for this content cycle. The patch will bring the new "Alexander: The Creator" group of raids, and with it the final part of the "Alexander" questline. Both Normal and Savage versions of the raids will come at the same time.

The other main endgame content coming in 3.4 is the next of the Warring Triad bosses, this time featuring none other than Sophia, the Goddess whom the players can kill after facing off with Sephirot, the Fiend.

The other continued content includes the Anime Weapon questline, meaning that players can now further power up their signature weapons. Presumably, this will bring them in line with the current top-of-the-line MIdan Weapons at item level 245 if not higher; so better get to grinding out the items for that questline quick if finding a raid group is not an option.

Other new updates coming to the game in patch 3.4 are new dungeons, PVP and Housing updates, and some major gameplay mechanics tweaks. Even more reason to look forward to when Update 3.4 "Soul Surrender" comes to "Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward" on September 27.
