It seems that the Japanese video gaming giant that is Nintendo is hoping that its next console platform, the Nintendo NX, will be much better received by the public and the company is apparently taking steps to prevent another disaster like the prior Wii U release by learning from its past milestones.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime recently spoke with Alist, where he talked about how Nintendo plans to gain back the ground the company lost with the failure of the Wii U in being received by the video gaming audience.

Looking at an overview of the console releases Nintendo has done in the recent past, one will see that the company has had a bit of a rough time in maintaining a strong grip on the video gaming community. Its entry into the sixth generation of console gaming, the Gamecube, did not fare so well against juggernaut Sony's PlayStation 2 and then newcomer Microsoft's Xbox which aimed at the hardcore crowd.

For the next and seventh generation, Nintendo surged to first place in the console wars as many attest that the Wii U's focus on pure fun and uniqueness is what garnered it so much attention. Compared to the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, which were more archetypical in their approach to marketing, many enjoyed the Wii's gimmicks as the epitome of party gaming.

With the Wii U however, many believe that Nintendo has lost its touch and appeal with regards to its audience. With the system's boasted Wii U Gamepad system not being well received. According to Fils-Aime, they will continue to focus on being unique and plan to better inform the market of the Nintendo NX's uniqueness by doing "a better job communicating the positioning for the product."

Fils-Aime believes that the reason the Wii U got its dismal reception is because the company could not properly inform the consumers of how it will fit and perform within its niche. For the Nintendo NX, Fils-Aime said that they "have to do a better job from a software planning standpoint" so as to better understand just how the NX can fit into the continuously changing video gaming paradigm and in turn communicate that fact to the audience.

Presumable, this is the reason why the company is still keeping very tight mum on any details about the NX; the company might simply be ensuring that it understand the market as much as possible before fully introducing the console.
