A lot of hubbub has been going around lately, regarding the possible casting choices that Fox will make for the expanded cast of leads set in the planned sequel to this year's R-rated hit "Deadpool," with many believing that Mackenzie Davis might have already signed on to play the probability-altering mutant mercenary Domino.

In an interview with GQ, the "Halt and Catch Fire" star responded to the rumors that she has been cast to play Domino in the upcoming "Deadpool 2." According to the actress, the answer is a big "no" but she admitted that the prospect is "very interesting."

"People keep sending me printouts being like, 'This is so cool!' And I'm like, 'Right? I also think it's cool! But it's not true!' Mackenzie Davis told the publication. Davis also admitted that while she would have liked to have kept mum on the subject just to "keep the ruse going" and that she thinks it is "cool" that the fans think that way, she unfortunately does not really have anything else to confirm.

That is not to say that she is specifically out of the running to play Domino in "Deadpool 2," however. In fact, Davis is actually the current favorite of Fox to play the role. The rumors first started when Mashable's Jeff Sneider said that Fox was actually considering Davis to play Domino in a recent episode of "Meet the Movie Press." Meanwhile, the actor who is in the front running to play opposite Davis' prospected character as her love interest Cable is none other than Kyle Chandler.

Though Davis debunked the rumors of her supposedly playing Domino in "Deadpool 2," it only actually means that she is not yet cast in the role. As "Deadpool" only just came out in March of this year, the possibilities are still very much open right now. Considering that film production takes years, with the sequel likely hitting no earlier than 2018, Fox could simply still be in the middle of deliberating the film's casting choices. The fact that Davis is, supposedly, being considered for the role just means that she might be at the top of their list.

For those unfamiliar with the character, Domino's real name is Neena Thurman and she has been one of the X-Men's lesser known characters in the comics. One of Domion's most prominent features is a facial tattoo that resembles a dark patch around her left eye.

As is wont for mutant call signs and its relation to their powers in the X-Men franchise, Domino's powers allow her to subconsciously psionically influence her surroundings through telekinetic acts. In layman's terms, she can initiate a "domino effect" with her powers to ensure a preferred, specified given outcome.

Currently in pre-production, there is no release date as of yet for "Deadpool 2."
