Samsung created a Bluetooth  speaker with microphone capabilities called "Scoop" possibly as to compete with, Echo, a similar device from Amazon based on a report by Ausdrooid -Australia's independent media outlet that covers mobile and tech news.

According to the report, "Scoop" may contain features that rival Amazon's voice-operated device "Echo."

U.S. Federal Communications Commission

The report said that Samsung submitted documents about the device to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission last Thursday, August 25. The document contained an image and manual of Scoop.

The manual stated that Scoop was designed to be portable and can be carried around using a wrist strap. A light on the top portion of the device would signal if it  is low in battery. The device can be charged using "Samsung-approved chargers."

The up and down volume buttons are located at the top. The play button works as  the Bluetooth pairing button as well. Beside the power button is a USB jack and a charging port.

Beginner Behemoth

Samsung is a giant in the smartphone industry and pundits consider the company as the only true rival of Apple. However, the consumer electronics behemoth is a beginner in voice operated devices that require speech recognition software.

Speech recognition software.

Speech recognition software is critical for voice-activated machines like Scoop and Echo. Apple, Baidu, and Microsoft have made greater inroads in speech recognition software than Samsung.

Pundits speculate that there is a possibility that Samsung might borrow speech recognition software from Google to run Scoop in the same manner it had used Android as the base software for its smartphones.
