YG Rookie Girl Group 'BLACKPINK' to Star in “BLACKPINK TV”

YG Entertainment's rookie girl group BLACKPINK is set to appear in their own reality TV show entitled "BLACKPINK TV."

The four group members - Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rose - will let their fans get a glimpse of the group's lives on and off stage, and showcase their individual charms and personalities. The show also aims to show the public, especially the fans, the close chemistry within the group members.

BLACKPINK debuted early this month with two singles, "Boombayah" and "Whistle." The two tracks are both from their Square One album and is the fastest girl group to achieve #1 on a music show. On August 21, the group won their very first #1 trophy, 13 days after their debut.

According to Koreaboo, during their acceptance speech, the girls thanked YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk and their head producer Teddy. Teddy led supervised the production of both "Boombayah" and "Whistle." Netizens also coined the term "beast rookies" to BLACKPINK for being able to make such historic milestone in a short span of time.

Member Jisoo reportedly sent a photo and text message to Yang saying, "Thank you, boss!!!!!!!!^^" The CEO shared the SMS conversation onto his Instagram account with a screenshot of his response to the girls. The message reads, "I'm feeling a bit touched and teary-eyed myself just seeing how much the last six years of your group's training has begun to really pay off. Congrats, congratulations^^."

A representative from YG Entertainment said, "Though we are overwhelmed by the response, we believe it is a form of interest. We are truly thankful and thankful again. By kicking off 'BLACKPINK TV,' we will bring our artists to you through a diverse array of content."

BLACKPINK TV will be broadcasted via Naver today, August 25. Some reports say that the airing will be the test run of the show that had broadcasted on last week's 'Inkigayo.'

BLACKPINK is the second girl group to debut under YG Entertainment after 2NE1, which debuted in 2009. The four members of the group trained for almost six years and caused quite a hype among K-Pop fans before their much-awaited debut. The four members also appeared in various music videos of their YG seniors, CFs, and even cameo roles on various Korean dramas prior to their debut.
