Xbox Games With Gold September List Revealed; Here Are All The Free Games For Xbox Players Next Month
The list of all the free video games coming to premium subscribers of Microsoft's Xbox Live network for its Xbox line of consoles in September has finally been revealed, with a total of three new games joining the previously announced "Earthlock: Festival of Magic."
As the month of August is swiftly drawing to an even swifter end, premium Xbox Live Gold subscribers can once again look forward a handful of new titles they can add to their digital library for free. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb previously announced that the first Xbox One title coming free with Games With Gold for September is "Earthlock: Festival of Magic."
Now, an announcement video on the official Xbox YouTube channel has revealed all the new games coming with "Earthlock: Festival of Magic." Joining "Earthlock" on the Xbox One front is one of the chapters of the side entry into Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed" series, "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China."
For those still playing on the Xbox 360, they can whet their controllers for the hit racing game "Forza Horizon," which will be followed by the similarly high speed first person action parkour game, "Mirror's Edge."
To the uninformed, or those who may be deliberating still on getting one of Microsoft's home consoles and looking to the feature if it might finally sell them, the Xbox Games with Gold is the premium free games feature Microsoft has for the premium Gold subscribers to its Xbox Live network.
Every month, the company issues a handful of new titles that Gold subscribers can get for free. At least two titles come to both current and last generations of the Xbox console, with the titles for the Xbox 360 playable on the Xbox One through the machine's backwards compatibility feature. A list of all games available for backwards compatibility to the Xbox One is available on Hryb's Major Nelson website.
The games will be released in increments; both Xbox One titles will run for the equivalent of a month, with one title releasing at the latter half of the month and extending into the following month, while the Xbox 360 games will each run for about 15 days. This means that for any given month, there are a total of five free games players can get their hands on.
For September, the first titles will be "Forza Horizon" and "Earthlock: Festival of Magic." They will be joining "WWE 2K16" as the remnant title for August. "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" and "Mirror's Edge" will follow on Sept 16, with the former extending until October.
