The long running high school gangster romantic comedy story "Nisekoi" by Naoshi Komi has finally ended, with the creator set to begin work on a new manga in the coming months.

Monday, August 8 marked the released of the final chapter of the manga which was released in the combined issue numbers 36 and 37 of Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump." According to an announcement by the magazine, reported via the Anime News Network, the remaining chapters of the manga which have not yet been collected in a "tankobon" or volume, numbering from chapter 216 to chapter 229, will be compiled the manga's final 25th volume which will be released in October.

At around the same time as volume 25 of "Nisekoi" will release, Komi is slated to publish his next work in Shueisha's newly renamed Jump GIGA on October 20. The next work is believed to not yet be a full series, meaning that the first chapter might simply be a pilot one-shot sample.

"Nisekoi," released in English with the literally translated subtitle "Nisekoi: False Love," told the story of Raku Ichijo and Chitoge Onodera. The premise of the manga is that both Raku and Chitoge are the scions of rival gangs, with Raku being the son of head of the yakuza Shuhei Clan and Chitoge being the daughter of the Beehive Gang, who are forced into entering a relationship by their fathers, who are ironically best friends, to stifle a bloody war between the two groups.

As the title indicates, the relationship between the two are fake but both play up the ruse for the sake of keeping the peace. For Chitoge, she initially has nothing but disdain for Raku whom she perceives as weak for and whom she refers to as a "beansprout." For Raku, he similarly had no desire for the brash and headstrong Chitoge, even comparing her to a gorilla at times, in addition to his longstanding crush on fellow classmate Kosaki Onodera.

The fake relationship between the two was only hampered by the arrival of more women vying for Raku's affections, engendered by his general kind-heartedness, with the revelation of a supposed promise being made between Raku and a girl ten years prior to the beginning of the story.

After more than 200 chapters, what started as a false love story eventually turned into a real one with Raku and finally getting together and ending up married in the final chapter.

Other media adaptations of the manga are two anime series produced by Studio SHAFT, a game for the PlayStation Vita titled "Nisekoi: Yomeiri!?" released in 2014, and a short novel series that ran in 2013. The two anime series ran for a collective 32 official episodes, with the 20-episode first season released in 2014 followed by a 12-episode second season in 2015, in addition to about four original video animated episodes.

Catch Naoshi Komi's next work when Jump GIGA volume 4 releases on October 20.
