'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: Jesus Saves! How Will He Be Portrayed Compared To Comics?
Following the big mid-season opener, "The Walking Dead" fans could not help but search for season 6 spoilers.
The latest episode of the AMC TV series is a fun one, most of it because of the newest character named Jesus portrayed by Tom Payne.
In the comics, the new character is regarded as one of the most bad-ass because of his unparalleled fighting skills.
He is portrayed pretty much as someone who could take on both Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).
However, if the television version is to be compared to his comic book counterpart, fans will see some holes.
Jesus is more of a dark character rather than a goofy one. He was first seen in Issue #92 and made the first contact with Alexandria people through Michonne and Abraham Ford. He beat them both but pretended to be defeated to be able to talk to Rick. He is an ambassador and recruiter for Hilltop people to fight Negan and his group called The Saviors.
Comic book purists might start conditioning seeing a "lighter" Jesus as Payne revealed he will be portrayed as that.
"I would say that, obviously, there's more to come but also, I went close to the comic book," Payne told Comicbook.com when asked for more "The Walking Dead" season 6 spoilers regarding his character.
He then explained how AMC's Jesus will be different from the source material.
"I went close to the script and what I was given and what I was told but from my understanding right now is what we went for right now was, I want to say, a little bit more light (although lighter is the wrong way because he's not a light character, still)," he said adding that, "It was nice to inject a different bit of color into the show and a different energy and I think that was what was most important. It was like, we have to give him a bit of a different attitude towards stuff."
The next "The Walking Dead" season 6 episode is called "Knots Tie." Read spoilers here.
