Cloud Strife Release Date For 'Super Smash Bros' Confirmed; Will Feature 'Advent Children' Costume

Last year, Nintendo confirmed that Cloud Strife, the main protagonist of "Final Fantasy VII," was coming to "Super Smash Bros 4" as a DLC character.

Fans were excited to discover that the iconic Square Enix character was joining the Super Smash universe, although the game publisher didn't reveal an exact release date for the Cloud Strife DLC.

However, recent rumors claim that the multiple sword-wielding protagonist will finally be available at the end of the month.

Gaming website VG24/7 claims that the character will feature a Limit Break that is charged by either dealing or receiving attacks.

The special move activates by itself when fully charged, and changes the character's moves to Limit Break attacks.

The site also noted that Cloud Strife will have two costumes and that one of them will be based on the "Final Fantasy" animated film "Advent Children."

Masahiro Sakurai, the director of "Super Smash Bros. 4," previously mentioned that Cloud Strife is one of the most requested characters to appear in the title.

Cloud was officially added to the "Super Smash" roster last year, along with an illustration from the character's official designer Tetsuya Nomura, who is also the director for the upcoming "Final Fantasy VII" PS4 remake.

However, Strife isn't the only non-Nintendo property expected to join the popular beat-em-up franchise.

Day Herald reported that Platinum Games' Bayonetta will also available as a character DLC character. The gun slinger's release date is also reportedly set this month.

"Bayonetta will pack a lot of guns and players will be able to use these guns to attack enemies while playing with this character," the website wrote.

The publication added that Bayonetta will have a special ability called the "Witch Time" which slows down the movements of opponents so players can take them down easily.

Stay tuned for Cloud Strife's launch on "Super Smash Bros 4" as updates become available.
