‘Carol’ Girl Cate Blanchett Is Joining The ‘Thor: Ragnarock’ Team, Confirmed?

The third installment of "Thor" is going to add an A-lister into the mix as Cate Blanchett is reportedly going to play the main villain in "Ragnarok."

Previously, Mark Ruffalo, who plays Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, told ET, "I saw her at the Governors' banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, 'Please, please, please make this work!'

"She's just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting," Ruffalo added.

The rumor about Cate Blanchett joining "Thor: Ragnarok" already reached the actress when a reporter asked her during the Palm Springs International Film Festival Gala about that possibility.

"I would love that. I'd love to get fit and punch people," she told USA Today,

The synopsis doesn't say much about what to expect in the film. It reads, "Thor (Hemsworth) returns to Asgard when his home realm is threatened by the Ragnarok, which is the Norse apocalypse."

Now, speculations have started as to what role the Oscar-winning actress will play in "Thor: Ragnarok."

At Sundance Film Festival 2016, director Taika Waititi answered this frequently asked question.

On the question of Blanchett joining the film he said, "Yes. Look, it's so early I'm not sure exactly what the extent of it is, but it's looking good, which would make me very happy."

But when he has was asked to confirm if Cate Blanchett will indeed play Hela in "Thor: Ragnarok," Waititi played coy, "Yeah, the rumor. Here's the thing. I can't say anything. I've probably said way too much," reported Collider.

Nevertheless, fans will just have to wait for more news update to find out whether or not Cate Blanchett is on board the "Thor: Ragnarok." The movie is scheduled for release on Nov. 3, 2017.
