Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date: Mysterious Official Teaser Video Surfaces Ahead Of Sunday Launch

It looks like the Android 7.0 Nougat update is coming to the Galaxy A3 (2017), if GFXBench is to be believed.

Following weeks of rumors and speculations over a possible Samsung Galaxy S7 release date, the much-awaited new Samsung flagship will finally be unveiled on Feb. 21 at the Mobile World Congress 2016.

Amidst all the enthusiasm and high expectations that have engulfed the tech sphere, came an unlisted YouTube video late last week fetching a sneak peek into an unidentified new handset.

The video was uploaded by Samsung's Indonesian operation in what appears to be an act of breaking ranks (PR gimmick?)

The teaser video shows Indonesian archer Dellie Threesyadinda using the unidentified Galaxy smartphone during various training activities, showing off the mystery device's various features including, wireless charging, synchronicity with the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch and water resistance.

A reference to the Galaxy S7 was seen initially but was later hastily removed.

However, in the era of social media, whatever happens, in a mysterious teaser video doesn't necessarily stay in the mysterious teaser video. Subsequently, a screenshot of the omitted reference to the S7 made its way to every nook and corner on the web.

However, as always, counter-narratives started surfacing soon after the video had gone viral.

That, needless to say, led to more confusion among awaiting fanboys just days ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S7 release date.

Amongst the firsts to have dismissed the possibility of the device in question being the S7 was the tech portal Alpha.

In a report, the website categorically said that the mystery handset was unlikely to be the Galaxy S7, adding that it could be the soon-to-be-outgoing Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

They, however, admitted that there are similarities between the device shown in the teaser video and the leaked images that surfaced on the web over the past couple of weeks or so.

Amongst the naysayers is David Ruddock, editor at Android Police, who tweeted saying that the handset in the teaser video is actually a placeholder.
