According to the official statement of Universal Pictures, "Pacific Rim 2" was scheduled for release on August 4, 2017 but it was redated to a later time.

"The filmmakers, Legendary and Universal Pictures are committed to having PACIFIC RIM 2, the sequel to 2013's PACIFIC RIM, which generated more $411 million at the global box office, be the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves," according to the official statement.

The much-awaited sequel of the Guillermo del Toro's 2013 science fiction film is reportedly currently on hold while both Legendary Entertainment and Universal Pictures' creative team is spending too much time to create an epic and worthy follow-up to the one of the 2013's most and best underappreciated blockbusters.
