Manny Pacquaio’s Run For Philippine Senate On The Rocks?; LGBT Community Not Voting The Boxer?

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community, not just in the Philippines, but worldwide are dismayed of what Manny Pacquiao said during an interview in a local TV network in the said country.

The eight-time boxing world champion who currently aspires to have a seat in the Philippine Senate recently expressed his belief about gay marriage, associating homosexuality to animals.

"It's common sense. Will you see any animals where male is to male and female is to female?," Paquaio said in an interview with TV5, noted CNN.

"The animals are better. They know how to distinguish male from female. If we approve [of] male on male, female on female, then man is worse than animals," he added.

After airing the interview, Pacquaio's senate candidacy is said to be on the down side as influential gay Filipino celebrities reacted on the 37-year-old's opinion about the LGBT community, saying that the boxer is entitled with his opinion but they should be entitled also if they say they won't vote for him.

Jose Marie Viceral (a.k.a Vice Ganda), a famous comedian in the Philippine entertainment industry shared his insights about the boxer to his more than six million followers on Twitter, declaring that he'll pray for Manny Pacquaio.

"The LGBT is a group of people. We are humans. But not animals. Though we're no saints we will pray for Manny Pacquiao," Viceral Tweeted.

The comedian even posted a picture of Pope Francis on Twitter with a quote, "if someone is gay and searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"

On the other hand, Zeibiz reported that Aiza Seguerra, a Filipino singer outraged after seeing the boxer's statement.

"I am so f****n mad I don't know what to say. You might've done our country proud but with your statement, you just showed the whole country why we shouldn't vote for you," Seguerra said.

"And yes, I think you are an ignorant, bigoted hypocrite. You made me lose all respect that I had for you, Mr. Pacquiao," Aiza Seguerra added.

As of now, Manny Pacquaio already expressed his apologies about his claims which was eventually accepted by known Filipino personality Jose Marie Viceral, but the comedian said that he still would not vote for the boxer.
