'The Tonight Show' Ratings In Danger Amid Jimmy Fallon's Divorce Rumors And Alleged Drinking Problem?
"The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon has been hitting the news feed recently alongside rumors about divorce and his alleged drinking problem. As the claims targeting the comedian continue to spread across the headlines, his work seems to have remained still on track.
Following the news about his alleged bad drinking and his rumored divorce with his wife Nancy Juvonen, his fans are worried that it will make a bad impact to his highly rated talk show "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon.
Amid concerns for the show and how the rumors would affect the host's work, reports claimed that "The Tonight Show" has still remained consistently high in ratings and even defeated Stephen Colbert, who has always been his closest match when it comes to ratings.
According to Variety, "To date, Fallon has defeated Colbert among adults 18-49 in all 21 weeks they've gone head to head. And in total viewers, the NBC host has prevailed in 20 of 21 weeks, losing only to Colbert in his premiere week last September."
As for Jimmy Fallon, he has remained a favorite subject of the media since last year with the same string of news surrounding him. However, the 41-year-old "Fever Pitch" actor has kept mum about the issues thrown at him and did not even come out to defend himself from the rumors.
In mid January this year, NBC executives had openly discussed about Jimmy Fallon's health and had also addressed the rumors about his alleged alcoholic problem.
"Jimmy is going to be fine for many years to come," NBC exec Bob Greenblatt told Hollywood Reporter when being asked regarding Fallon's insurance policy and previous accidents. "I often say Jimmy is going to be there longer than many of you in your jobs."
He went on saying, "We are always worried about his safety and health and yeah, there's been conversations about that, but the stories are exaggerated about all of it."
Jimmy Fallon was announced as the sixth host of "The Tonight Show" next to Jay Leno. The show under his name debuted on February 2014 which garnered a total 11.3 million viewers.
