The latest NBA trade rumors alleged that the Boston Celtics are planning to upgrade their team by signing perennial all-stars Al Horford and Jeff Teague from the Atlanta Hawks.

ESPN's Marc Stein and Kevin Arnovitz pointed out that the Celtics are looking for a "veteran difference maker" in the team.

"The only thing I would say about that is, it depends on the player, depends on his age and the probability of us re-signing him," said Danny Ainge, president of basketball operations, as reported by Mass Live.

"I would take a chance to get a player in that was so special -- I might take that chance. Most of the time I would say no, Most of the time it depends on what you're giving up," he said.

"If you're risking very little it might be worth it, but I would never risk a lot if there wasn't a chance (to re-sign them), unless they were one of the top four or five players in the league," Ainge added.

Horford is in the final year of his contract with the Hawks and will be among the most sought after free agents soon. Teague, on the other hand, seems to have taken a step back and the Hawks are reportedly planning to trade him off, according to HNGN.

According to the NBA trade rumors, the Celtics got in touch with the Hawks and are waiting for the deal to fall through. On the other hand, Hawks' president Mike Budenholzer reportedly seems okay with the idea of trading his best players including Horford and Teague, noted Inquisitr.

Getting hold of Horford will give the Celtics the veteran star player they have been looking for. With his expanding arsenal, which now includes a respectable three-point weapon, the versatile forward would fit right in with the Celtics offense.

If the NBA trade rumors are true, signing Al Horford would make the Celtics a serious contender in the Eastern Conference.
