Will 'Cloverfield 2' Even Have A Giant Monster At All? J.J. Abrams May Have A Trick Up His Sleeve

Since the surprising Cloverfield 2" trailer debuted last month with Michael Bay's "13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi," fans have been linking the upcoming film to 2008's giant monster movie.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director and the upcoming movie's producer J.J. Abrams has already confirmed it to be a "blood relative" of the original film, but sleuthing fans suggest that the viewers are actually being tricked since the trailer shows no signs of a monster at all.

Bloody Disgusting alleged that a certain Reddit post could provide vital information about the movie's plot.

The report states that "10 Cloverfield Lane" was previously titled "The Cellar" and filmed under the name "Valencia."

According to the anonymous user, the project, which was produced under Paramount's Insurge, was completed but eventually scrapped and orphaned.

"Paramount bought it back up and had Dan Casey and Damien Chazelle do some re-writes so that it would connect to the 'Cloverfield' universe and they went back and did reshoots and add-ons in March 2015 in New Orleans and L.A," the user said.

The user added that the original project didn't have a monster, but added it to the finally to tie it to the "Cloverfield" universe.

According to the report, this isn't the first time a project has been picked up by another studio and altered its story. The same has happened to other franchises like "Saw," "Hellraiser" and "Super Mario Bros."

While the rumors are convincing a lot of people, the producers have yet to release a statement about it to confirm the news officially.

"Cloverfield 2," officially "10 Cloverfield Lane" stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Alex of Venice"), John Goodman ("Argo") and John Gallagher Jr. ("Jonah Hex"). 

The movie will be released in theaters on March 11, 2016.
