'Scandal' Season 5 To Be Scott Foley's Last? Jake Ballard To Be Killed Off?

Aside from playing Jake Ballard on "Scandal," Scott Foley may have a lot on his plate these days.

According to a report, a comedy show that Foley wrote with Greg Grunberg is being picked up for a pilot by ABC. The show is titled "Toast" and has Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers as executive producers.

"The ABC Studios hybrid comedy takes place over the course of Max & Page's wedding rehearsal dinner, which sees their eclectic family and friends give toasts recalling anecdotes about the couple," The Hollywood Reporter wrote. "But flashbacks reveal the toasts don't always get it right, as the show tracks the real story of their complicated, funny and relatable road to marriage."

"Foley and Grunberg came up with the story, with Foley penning the teleplay. The comedy is Shondaland's second pilot order this season and joins ABC's Romeo and Juliet follow-up Still Star-Crossed," the report added.

"Toast is the first Shondaland comedy to go to pilot after multiple seasons spent trying to enter the space."

Some speculate that Scott Foley will surely do his best for "Toast," especially since his directorial-writing debut - 2014 black comedy movie "Let's Kill Ward's Wife," didn't do so well in the box office as well as in reviews.

The movie only got a 5.4/10 rating in IMDB, and has been described as " torturously unfunny pileup of suburban hijinks" by a review in Variety.

Does it mean that Scott Foley might need to give up his spot in"Scandal" to give more of his time to "Toast"?

Despite speculations, it seems that Shondaland isn't moving towards doing to Jake Ballard what they did to Dr. Derek Shepherd of "Grey's Anatomy." In fact, it seems that much is in store for Scott Foley's character for the upcoming episodes of "Scandal."

"I found out that 'Jake's' not his real name, which is sort of interesting! So I think there's more to come on that front," Scott Foley previously told Variety about his character in "Scandal."

Scott Foley and the rest of his co-stars will return on the mid-season 5 premiere of "Scandal" on February 11.
