Brad Pitt is happier now

"Sons of Anarchy" may have ended its run on television, but series creator Kurt Sutter has announced that a spin-off of the motorcycle drama is currently being developed.

Although series star Charlie Hunnam has not yet been confirmed to appear in the prequel, the actor hinted that Brad Pitt may play his father in the new series.

The buzz about the "Fight Club" star's participation in "Sons of Anarchy" began when Men's Journal asked Charlie Hunnam about the idea of Pitt playing the role of his character's father, John Teller.

The 35-year-old actor excitedly responded to the question, which led fans to think if Brad Pitt was really involved with the project.

"Did you read that about Brad Pitt maybe playing my dad?" The "Pacific Rim" star asked. "Brad Pitt as John Teller. How awesome would that be?"

While the news will certainly excite fans, Charlie Hunnam did not confirm his role in the spin-off. Based on the timeline of the new series, it is unlikely that Hunnam's character, Jax Teller, will appear in the prequel.

Meanwhile, Sutter has revealed that the prequel may be an origin story and will not touch on anything that has occurred in the original series.

"At some point I do have plans to hopefully do the prequel, which I do see as a one-off 10- or 12-episode thing where we begin in Nam and see John Teller and Piney and see how that relationship got created," Sutter said in an interview with Deadline"And bring them back to the States and the obvious external dynamics that were going on in the country and the perception of the war and what an odd kind of perception these vets got when they returned home."

While it's fun to speculate that Brad Pitt could be involved in the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off, many have yet to see if the franchise could survive without Charlie Hunnam.

Stay tuned for more news on the "Sons of Anarchy" spin-off as updates become available.
