The BBC is reportedly creating a Netflix-like streaming service and it's making fans from the other side of the pond excited.

Will US fans get to see wildly popular shows like "Sherlock" and "Doctor Who?"

The British station announced in September that director general Tony Hall was planning to "try out businesses that go directly to the public."

"We're launching a new over-the-top video service in America offering BBC fans programmes they wouldn't otherwise get - showcasing British actors, our programme-makers - and celebrating our culture," Lord Hall reportedly announced last year.

BBC News further reported that the new streaming service will not be competing with other sites or the shows being shown on television.

The new venture will reportedly "complement our existing footprint in the USA," as BBC brings the best of what British television may offer to the other side of the pond.

Although the previous report noted that BBC's Netflix-like streaming won't be affecting sites like Amazon and Hulu, "Doctor Who" has already pulled out from Netflix and Hulu last Jan. 31.

Video producer Philip DeFranco predicted that piracy for the said series will dramatically climb up should it not be picked up by another streaming service.

"Doctor Who removed off of Netflix and Hulu. 70 percent chance BBC is going to announce a paid streaming service. 100 percent "Doctor Who" piracy will go up," he tweeted.

However, Decider noted that a spokesperson for BBC Worldwide assured fans that the popular series will be returning shortly through another streaming partner.

"We hope to announce a new digital partner for 'Doctor Who' shortly," the said spokesperson announced.

While Netflix already bought the rights to include Benedict Cumberbatch's famed series "Sherlock"  in its catalogue, "Doctor Who" reportedly had no specific US-based streaming deal closed.

Perhaps the Steven Moffat-produced series might be one of the shows that Amazon locked down with PBS' Masterpiece last year, but there's still no confirmation on that tid bit yet.

No announcements about which shows will be included in BBC Netflix-like streaming catalogue have come out.

On the other hand, since "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock" have amassed massive followings in the US, it would be a logical choice for BBC to capitalize those two shows.
