'Terminator Genisys 2' Cancelled? Fans Furious At Failed 2017 Release Date
"Terminator Genisys 2" was reportedly bumped off from Paramount's calendar.
It seems that the production giant is prioritizing other projects over the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie.
"In its place is the upcoming Baywatch movie, which should allow you fully appreciate just how little faith the studio has in this once-mighty franchise," Slash Film reported.
"There is only one possible direction for this series to go next: a full-on remake in 2030 or so. It truly feels like all other options have been exhausted."
It has earlier been reported that producers were purportedly not impressed with the performance of "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke in the first movie.
"Sadly her acting ability has been called into question and has in part been blamed for the film's flop," an insider previously told Dish Nation.
"Of course it's not all her fault, but they basically don't want her back. They're saying she doesn't have the star power they thought she did."
Apparently, "Terminator: Genysis" didn't do very well in the box office as well as the other "Terminator" movies. It may be possible that producers can't put the blame on Hollywood action movie legend Arnold Schwarzenegger, and pinpointing Emilia Clarke as the cause of the movie's failure may be a lot more sensible.
Before news that "Terminator Genisys 2" was postponed by Paramount, it has already been reported that the first movie did not do very well in the box office.
"'Terminator: Genisys,' the franchise's reboot starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke and Emilia Clarke, grossed only $89 million domestically last summer before slightly rebounding overseas to $350 million," Variety reported.
"It was also a misfire with critics, scoring a weak 26% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes."
"Skydance, which co-financed 'Terminator: Genisys,' had originally planned a new trilogy with Paramount but said in October were 're-adjusting' after the disappointing ticket sales," it added.
There are fans who have expressed disappointment over the postponement through social media. Arnold Schwarzenegger is yet to issue an official statement about the cancellation of "Terminator Genisys 2."
