‘Zoolander 2’ News: Kim Kardashian Joining Film’s Cast? Kanye West Requests Wife’s Appearance?
The latest news about "Zoolander 2" has been making waves on the internet, as Kim Kardashian is reportedly joining the film's cast. According to XXL magazine, Kanye West was supposedly the one who directly requested for his wife's special appearance.
The "Golddigger" rapper was previously confirmed to make a cameo in the highly anticipated sequel to 2001's "Zoolander." Kanye West's part in the fashion-oriented comedy came amid the buzz surrounding his "Yeezy" clothing and footwear collection.
While "Zoolander 2" made news over fans questioning the outspoken hip-hop star's inclusion in the movie, an insider explained that Kanye West is actually good friends with one of the cast members, Will Ferrell. The comedian plays fashion designer and evil mastermind Mugatu, who tricks the main character played by Ben Stiller.
He and Kanye West reportedly got along well when the rapper made a cameo in "Anchorman 2" and expressed his interest to be part of "Zoolander 2."
"Kanye is friends with Will and appeared briefly in Anchorman 2, but he wanted to be in Zoolander 2 even more," an insider told The Sun last year.
Kanye West then specified that he wants his wife to also be included in the movie's star-studded lineup, which the film's creators agreed to. According to Bustle, Kim Kardashian will be making an appearance alongside celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Lenny Kravitz, Macaulay Culkin, Susan Sarandon, Willie Nelson and Ariana Grande.
Aside from the buzz over the movie's high-profile guests, the movie has also been making news for allegedly promoting transphobia.
Entertainment Weekly reported about how members of the LGBT community are offended by the gender-ambiguous character played by actor Benedict Cumberbatch. A petition has even been circulating in hopes of boycotting what some expect to be one of 2016's biggest films.
"In the Zoolander 2 trailer, an androgynous character played by Benedict Cumberbatch is asked by Zoolander and Hansel if he is a 'male or female model,' and if they 'have a hot dog or a bun,'" the petition detailed.
"Additionally, Cumberbatch's character is clearly portrayed as an over-the-top, cartoonish mockery of androgyne/trans/non-binary individuals."
"This is the modern equivalent of using blackface to represent a minority," the petitioner added.
More news about "Zoolander 2" has since surfaced the web, prior to the movie's release date.
