Xiaomi's executive confirmed on social media one of Xiaomi Mi5 key specs. Meanwhile, new leaked photo showed a glossy back covering.

According to co-founder Liwan Jiang, the upcoming flagship will feature a Full HD screen instead of the mainstream Quad HD display. The reason? The 1080p resolution has lower power consumption, Deccan Chronicle reported.

Phone Arena added that the latest GFX benchmark test revealed that the Xiaomi Mi5 sports a massive screen of 5.7inch.

The benchmark test result also highlighted Snapdragon 820 chipset paired with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 530 GPU, according to GFXBench's listing.

Xiaomi executive Hugo Barra also shared on Facebook a screenshot of the Mi5's home screen asking eagle eyed fans to spot what's new on the upcoming device. Gizmodo stated that other specs were also confirmed on the said photo.

Here's a little sneak preview of my #Mi5 home screen. Can your eagle eyes spot what's new with Mi and coming to you on February 24?

Going by the details, the screenshot confirmed NFC feature and dualsim capability with 4G and CDMA 1x network.

As for its design, new live photos surfaced from Weibo, which was later posted by @OnLeaks, debunked the metal unibody design.

"They show a thin, glass-coated battery cover, which suggests Xiaomi dropped plans for a full metal body for the Mi5," Softpedia cited.

The Xiaomi Mi5 has been touted to be one of the first devices to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, rumors in China claim that it will have a Windows 10 variant with the same specs.

Apparently, this rumor is no surprise as Xiaomi and Microsoft partnered last year to bring Windows 10 Technical Preview on Mi4 and the official ROM was released in December. Additionally, other Xiaomi devices like The Mi Pad 2 64GB also comes in a Windows 10 variant, GSM Arena reported.

Xiaomi Mi5 official specs and features are expected to be unveiled simultaneously at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and the company's standalone event in Beijing on Feb. 24.
