"The Flash" and "Supergirl" crossover is finally happening due to fans' request, according to the showrunner's recent announcement.

According to Forbes, Barry Allen's alter ego will be heading to a new town and a new channel next month. "The Flash" is set to visit National City for the said crossover episode, which will happen on March 28.

"We are so incredibly excited to announce something that we have dreamed of happening since we starting making 'Supergirl' - The Flash and Supergirl are teaming up!," Executive Producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

"We want to thank Grant Gustin for making the time to come visit (on top of his already immense workload) and all of the folks at CBS, The CW, Warner Bros. and DC for working this out. And finally thanks to the fans and journalists who have kept asking for this to happen."

They added, "It is our pleasure and hope to create an episode worthy of everyone's enthusiasm and support."

However, details of the upcoming "The Flash" and "Supergirl" crossover episode are yet to be revealed. And there is still no word from the showrunners whether Melissa Benoist's character will also make an appearance on CW's hit series, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Forbes reported that scheduling has previously prevented the crossover to take place as "The Flash" and "Arrow" are filming in British Columbia, while "Supergirl" is set in LA.

Gizmodo, on the other hand, stated that the announced series collaboration was made possible because the shows share the same executives, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg

Meanwhile, Kreisberg already shut down spinoff rumors of "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl" last year, THR reported.

"First of all, we don't even know if we could, legally," he told THR.

"And quite frankly, just making the 'Arrowverse,' which is what we call 'Legends,' 'Flash' and 'Arrow' work and then making 'Supergirl' work, it's enough of a challenge without having to add a fourth player."
