Microsoft Rolls Out Xbox Live Games With Gold For February; Xbox One Set To Receive New Update
New set of free games for the month of February are out for Xbox Live members through Games with Gold program.
This month's line-up gives away four free games and one from January's list, two for Xbox 360 and three for the Xbox One.
For the Xbox 360, "Sacred Citadel" with suggested retail price of $9.99, will be free on the first half of February, and will be replaced by "Gears of War 2" on the second half.
Xbox One free games, on the other hand, brings the RPG-game type "Hand of Fate" throughout the month and "Styx: Master Shadows" on Feb. 15 until March 15, as announced by Microsoft.
In addition, the Indie 3D fighting game "Zheros" from January's line-up is still free until Feb. 15.
Microsoft sweetened the Xbox Live deals with Xbox One's new backward compatibility features that allows players to play Xbox 360 titles from the Games with Gold program on Xbox One, Attack of the Fanboy added.
Microsoft also announced that Xbox 360 users in UK, US, Canada, France and Germany may download "The Witcher 2" for free. Meanwhile, previous owners of the game on Xbox 360 may also download said title on their Xbox One as it has been added to backwards compatible games list, Videogamer reported.
On the other hand, Xbox One owners are set to receive a new update some time this February for the Community Calendar app that prompts players with free movie weekends, Xbox Live Games with Gold and free to play games through an added feature called Free Stuff.
The said update allows players to join celebrities and leaders on live games. They can also chat and ask questions. Additionally, players will be able to stream hosted events by the community, ambassadors and community managers through the Gatherings feature.
With that said, players are also up to date with eSports events, broadcasts of new game launch as well as news, contests and challenges, according to Express UK.
