Finally, there's an update on the much awaited Nintendo next-generation gaming console!

New reports have begun surfacing about a possible Nintendo NX release date along with some key info about the device's specs.

According to a new rumor passed around the gaming sphere by Know Your Mobile with inputs from DigiTimes, the Nintendo NX will launch sometime in early-2016 with the production phase beginning by the end of March.

The report also suggests that despite an earlier announcement about making 20 million units of the device, the company has now scaled it down to 10 million to 11 million.

In line with the release date news, it was also speculated that Nintendo was interested in launching the forthcoming gaming console along with a big catalogue of games from a variety of developers.

The idea behind this proposed move was to ensure that the NX doesn't end up becoming a commercial liability like the Wii U.

But, those were just the tip of the iceberg. As it turns out, there is even more exciting news for the awaiting fanboys.

A recent report by Den of Geek claimed that the NX could come with the ability to interact with PCs, smartphones and the PlayStation 4.

The report which was based on input from David Gibson, a Japanese games industry analyst, did not mention the extent to which this compatibility will play out.

Meanwhile, rumors are also rampant that the device will boast 4k video streaming capability. The information, apparently leaked by a Nintendo client called GFK survey - later tweeted by Liam Robertson, suggests that the console will support 4k, 60fps video streaming.

However, the juicy leak that has made pretty much everyone's imagination running, also suggests that the NX's gameplay graphics will be 900, 60fps.

Considering that the Wii U supports 1080p gameplay, will this next-generation handheld console only support 900p?

Upon its release date, the Nintendo NX will reportedly come with a Xbox Live-type subscription service that will offer users multiplayer gaming and a total selection of no less than 150 titles.
