Fans were delighted to hear that Damon Albarn, who is also widely known as the frontman of UK-based band Blur, is currently working on a Gorillaz new album this 2016.

It came as a surprise to most fans when it was recently announced that creators Jamie Hewlett and fellow music collaborator Damon Albarn have put aside their differences and have agreed to finally work together and try to come up with new materials for a new album for Gorillaz to be released sometime this 2016, according to Gig Wise.

It was back in the mid-2015 when it was unveiled by Albarn via Consequence of Sound that he had plans of reviving the iconic Gorillaz to release an album by 2016, wherein he would start hitting the studios to record new materials by September of last year.

"I'd love to just get back into that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week," Albarn explained. "I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record. I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance."

Albarn's partner in crime, Jamie Hewlett, was also reported to have been in a creative phase as of late as they both try to come up with some fresh material for a Gorillaz new album.

"What I try not to do when I'm working in this creative period, the cooking of the mess is go to other peoples' exhibitions and look at other peoples' work," Hewlett elaborated in an interview with NME. "I close my eyes, and don't want to know what anyone else is doing."

"Doing that has kind of ruined the creative process for me in the past, and I don't want to let that happen again."

As such, fans can only expect greater things from the duo as they conjure up new ideas for an upcoming Gorillaz new album that will, hopefully, be released sometime soon.
