"Narcos" season 2 is turning out to be one wild roller ride, as latest news and spoilers suggest that the show's release date still remains uncertain, while its original cast shall remain intact.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the series' timetable now hangs in the balance in the wake of reports that the crime drama's show runner position has undergone a major shakeup.

"Narcos" show runner Adam Fierro, who was put in charge of the writer's room at the start of season 2, has left the show for another assignment.

Fierro took over the reins from the first season's show runner Chris Brancato who stepped down from the show in the early part of 2015.

To fill in the vacuum left by Fierro, writer-producers Jose Padilha and Eric Newman returned as executive producers, and are now handling the team of writers assigned to work on "Narcos" season 2.

Fierro's departure is seen to be part of Netflix and Gaumont International Television's decision's decision to further liven things up for the show, reported the Deadline

When "Narcos" unexpectedly opened to positive reviews from critics and high viewership ratings, clamors to renew the show for a second season soon gained momentum.

It was during this time when Padilha and Newman were called in to resume their roles as executive producers.

In the meantime, fans who are awaiting the release date of "Narcos" season 2 will be pleased to know that the series' cast led by its main star Wagner Moura will reprise their roles, reported Slash Film.

However, Newman shared a couple of spoilers on the show's sophomore season, which included the impending death of Pablo Escobar, portrayed by Moura.

"He will die," the executive producer declared. "The design of the show is we told 15 years of history in season one."

"At the point of Escobar's escape which is the summer of 1992, Escobar has 18 months to live," he continued. "That's not something we can change."

But it seemed that Newman had developed a fondness for Moura, as he said, "Trust me, if we could find a way to keep him alive and keep Wagner on the show..."

"Narcos" season 2 is anticipated to premiere anytime within 2016.
