NBA Trade Rumors: Sacramento Kings Eager To Let Go Of Small Forward Rudy Gay?
Sacramento Kings are currently struggling but the latest NBA trade rumors suggest that the team is not making any moves to make the team better.
SacTown is led by the trio of All-Star DeMarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondo and Rudy Gay. This triumvirate might finally see its end as NBA insiders said that Gay will be traded.
"The Sacramento Kings are indeed willing to trade Rudy Gay, sources say, after fairly frequent speculation on that topic in recent weeks," ESPN's Marc Stein said in a report.
The columnist insisted though that the Kings will only let go of the ten-year veteran unless they will get something equally beneficial.
"It's conditional willingness," Stein further wrote. "Sacramento is said to be seeking a quality young player in return if it parts with Gay."
"Or a player they like with at least one year left on his contract after this season, which would give the Kings some insulation against the unpleasant prospect of trading for someone in February who turns around and leaves town in July. (Gay, 29, is scheduled to earn $13.3 million from the Kings next season before he's forced to decide on a $14.3 million player option in 2017-18)."
According to further NBA trade rumors, Kings are looking at Eric Gordon and Alonzo Gee of New Orleans Pelicans in exchange of Gay.
Rumors about Gay's possible trade to Pelicans first surfaced in the second week of January.
"Sources say the Pelicans have interest in trying to acquire Kings forward Rudy Gay," NOLA.com said about the NBA trade rumors. "In his first public comments since September, Demps would not disclose specifically players they are targeting."
This might be a big gamble for Sacramento as the team still has a chance to make it to the playoffs.
The team is currently ninth in the Western Conference with 20-27 record, just .457 behind no. 8 Utah Jazz. Gay is averaging 18 points per game, the second best stat in the team.
