In response to the invitation from Most Rev. Paul Kim, the Episcopal Asiamerica Ministries has chosen the Cathedral of St. Mary and St. Nicholas to be the venue of International Consultation that is scheduled from September 30 to October 5.

The consultation bears the theme, "Celebrating our Partnerships; Uniting Our Mission." EAM council president Rev. Bayani Rico says Most Rev. Kim invited them to join the celebration of the 125th foundation anniversary of Anglican Church in Korea, which is why the EAM has chosen to hold the consultation in Seoul.

"I am so excited about this consultation in Korea and it would not have been possible without the support from the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society," says Rev. Rico, as noted by Episcopal Digital Network on Tuesday.

According to Rev. Dr. Winfred Vergara, who serves as a coordinator for the gathering, the "gathering shows a deeper partnership between the EAM Council as a 501c organization and the Society."

"Over the years, both the EAM Council and the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society have engaged in holding conferences including Asia-America Theological Exchanges with the churches in Asia and this consultation in Korea would highlight this growing partnership and collaboration," says Rev. Vergara, a missioner for Asiamerica Ministries for the Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society.

On the other hand, the celebration of the 125th foundation anniversary of Anglican Church in Korea carries the theme, "Reconciliation - Human & God: Lord send me."

Episcopal Café noted on Saturday that "the church is anticipating that the anniversary will found a new time of mission and growth for Korea."

Aside from that, two anniversaries that are considered "major milestones" for Korea will also be commemorated: the 100th anniversary of the ordination of Rev. Hee Jun Mark Kim, the first Korean priest, and 50th anniversary of the consecration of Rt. Rev. Chun Hwan Paul Lee, the first Korean bishop.

Meanwhile, Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church (USA), Most Rev. Nathaniel Uematsu, primate and archbishop of Nippon Sei Kokai (Japan), Rt. Rev. Allen Shin, bishop suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Yang, former president of the Sungkonghoe University in Seoul are among the speakers at the EAM International Consultation.
