Motorola Droid Turbo 2 Marshmallow Update Set For Release; Software Introduces App Drawer
The Motorola Droid Turbo 2 is among handset models that are line up to receive the latest Marshmallow update.
According to the Lawyer Herald, other Motorola models which will get the online update include the Droid Maxx 2, Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo (2014) and Moto Maxx (2014).
This development came in the heels of Motorola executive David Schuster's announcement on Google + that the soak test for the Marshmallow 6.0 update on its Moto G model had already commenced in India and Brazil.
"I'm pleased to announce that we are starting the soak test for Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for the 2014 Moto G (2nd Gen) and 2014 Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd Gen) for Brazil and India retail channels devices," Schuster said in his post.
"We will monitor the soak for next week and with good results, proceed to full launch," he added.
Motorola Droid Turbo 2 owners are excited to get the newest Marshmallow update on their smartphones, as the software includes a variety of new features which include a new app drawer, lock screen tweaks, and a minimalist home screen.
The new app drawer has been well received by Motorolla users, as Marshmallow 6.0 ditches the horizontal scrolling method introduced in the Jelly Bean update and replaces it with a vertical one.
With the revamped scrolling method, navigation has become faster and more efficient, as the index search bar located on the app drawer will bring users to the specific app they want to use.
The improvements being made on the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and other handset models through the release of the Marshmallow software updates have taken place after Lenovo purchased Motorola Mobility from Google in 2014.
According to CNET, Lenovo is "unifying its two phone businesses under the Lenovo name," as the company plans to retain Motorola's Moto brand for high-end products, while use its homegrown Vibe brand for budget devices.
"We'll slowly phase out Motorola and focus on Moto," declared Motorola Chief Operating Officer Rick Osterloh during an exclusive interview with CNET at the CES conference in Las Vegas.
The improvements being made on the Motorola Droid Turbo 2 via the latest Marshmallow update is expected to draw in more customers, as the company prepares to give its competitors a run for their money.
