'The Flash' Movie Cast: CW's Grant Gustin Supports Ezra Miller's Casting, Fires Back At Haters
Grant Gustin's "The Flash" obviously put the scarlet speedster back in the limelight. So when Warner Bros. announced that a big screen version was happening, many expected that Gustin would be cast to play the role.
It would seem logical for the tv's Flash to also play the role in the cinematic version of the franchise, that was until Warner announced that "The Fault In Our Stars" actor Ezra Miller was cast in the role.
Naturally, fans of Gustin's Flash campaigned against Ezra's casting -- and an online Flash feud was born.
According to Movie Pilot, Gustin drew first blood when he favorited a few tweets from his fans saying how he could have been an "amazing" Flash in the movie. As expected, netizens mistook this as Gustin throwing shade at Ezra and and Warner Bros.
Grant later on set the record straight, saying that he isn't having any of his fans' Flash feud.
Here his Twitter post clearing the air.
"I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC," explained the actor. "I've never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor."
The former "Glee" actor also revealed why he favorited those tweets.
"I 'liked' some tweets from fans that expressed their support of me and said they would've enjoyed seeing me in the movie. Nothing of anyone "bashing" Ezra," he added. "I don't condone that type of behavior (especially on the Internet) and I definitely don't partake."
Despite missing out on the role, the actor says that he's actually excited to see Miller's big screen take on the character.
"I am a fan and it will be awesome," Gustin said.
"Everyone chill and be nice," the actor concluded.
Meanwhile Ezra Miller's Flash is expected to debut in Zack Snyder's "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" on March 25, 2016, followed by "Justice League Part One" cast on Nov. 17, 2017. "The Flash" solo film arrives on March 23, 2018.
