"Left 4 Dead 2" is now allegedly playable on the Xbox One via backwards compatibility feature.

Though there was no official announcement from Microsoft that the zombie apocalypse game has been included on the games that support this feature, some players on Reddit claim that they were able to get a hold of it on their Xbox One.

Gamezone said that a Reddit user confirmed that "Left 4 Dead 2" can be played on Xbox One via backwards compatibility feature. A user that goes by the name "Apherix" provided the steps on how to download the game.

Players should own a digital copy of the game on Xbox 360 for them to proceed with the download process. Here's a step by step guide provided by the Redditor, Win Beta reported.

1. On your Xbox One, search for my gamertag: Apherix

2. Go into my profile and look at following/followers.

3. Find "Left 4 Dead 2" and continue selecting it until it lets you download it.

4. Download/Install.

As this news has taken the internet by storm, Microsoft was quick to dispatch a fix preventing players from downloading the game on Xbox One. As of this writing, players can no longer download the original Xbox 360 title.

Meanwhile, the YouTube video wherein it has been confirmed that "Left 4 Dead 2" supports backwards compatibility feature on Xbox was also taken down.

Attack of the Fanboy speculated that "Left 4 Dead 2" will be added on the Xbox one backwards compatible games list in no time. Microsoft recently announced that it will release games that supports the feature whenever they are ready instead of the of the monthly batch basis.

"Based on your feedback, the Xbox Engineering team will start to pilot a new way to launch Xbox One Backward Compatibility titles," Microsoft said in a blogpost.

"Starting today, we'll release titles as they become available, rather than a set monthly launch date. What this means for you is that you won't have to wait to find out the latest titles; we'll release whatever is available, when they're available, once each title has received the engineering and publisher stamp of approval."
