Evo 2016 Heats Up With Nine Titles In the Lineup; Justin Wong Disappointed With The Game List

Evolution Championship Series (Evo 2016), the world's largest fighting game championship, is now set this July 15-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Though fans can't wait for the said event, Justin Wong, a multi-time Evo champion wished that the founder could have brought back last year's "Street Fighter" game in the nine featured game titles.

According hardcoregamer.com, Evo founders announced that the gamers' much awaited event of the year features nine game titles. The newcomers to the tournament are "Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator" and "Pokken Tournament."

The nine featured games are "Street Fighter V" (PlayStation 4), "Super Smash Bros. Melee" (Gamecube), "Super Smash Bros." (Wii U), "Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-" (PS 4), "Mortal Kombat X" (PS4), "Pokkén Tournament" (Wii U), "Killer Instinct" (Xbox One), "Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom" (Xbox 360), and "Tekken 7" (Arcade).

On the other hand, Wong expressed in his interview with ESPN that he was disappointed at the fact that "Ultra Street Fighter 4" wasn't on it.

"The community should fight for "SFIV" because "SFIV" helped us a long way," he said. "Even if Evo does not accept, grassroots will always run "SFIV" tourneys. I enjoy "SFIV" so I would still play. "Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike" got kicked at Evo and then the community stood up and brought it back with how hype the game can be. "Ultra Street Fighter IV" can go that route, and I'm sure Japan will still play Ultra a lot."

"I have a lot of goals this Evo. Win 'SFV,' 'Pokken,' and 'UMvC3' are the things I can see over the horizon. I want to win 'SFV' the most because Capcom Cup is the end and I never won an Evo that didn't have the word Marvel in it," Wong added.

As the lineup of game titles were revealed, fans can't wait for Evo 2016 to come and even exceed its previous events.
