Busan Film Festival To Bring In Filmmakers From All Around The World

The Busan Film Festival will run from October 1 to October 10 in the southern port city of Busan, South Korea, according to the Korean news outlet Yonhap News.

As 300 films from 75 countries are screened and celebrated during the 10 day festival, filmmakers from all around the world will be attending the 20th Busan Film Festival, according to Chosun.

Tang Wei, who is married to Korean filmmaker Kim Tae-yong, as well as Taiwanese actors Chen Bolin and Yang Kuei-mei, are reportedly set to arrive at the festival. French actress Sophie Marceau, Harvey Keitel and Tilda Swinton are reportedly also on the list to attend.

Among the list of Korean actors and actresses are Jun Ji-hyun, Yoo Ah-in and Lee Jung-jae, according to an official guest list released by festival organizers last Tuesday.

French director Leos Carax of "Boy Meets Girl," "Bad Blood" and "Les Amants du Pont Neuf” is also on the guest list along with leading Asian filmmakers, China's Jia Zhangke and Du Qi Feng, Japan's Kore-eda Hirokazu and Taiwan's Hou Hsiao-hsien.

South Korean director Kang Je-gyu and the Chinese director Feng Xiaogang will take part in an onstage talk show regarding their upcoming collaboration project, “Bad guys Always Die,” on October 2 as well.

In order to celebrate the festival’s 20th anniversary, organizers have reportedly compiled a list of 100 Asian films. The top 10 films will reportedly be screened during the event.

”Tokyo Story" by Yasujiro Ozu, "Rashomon" by Akira Kurosawa and "A City of Sadness" by Hou Hsiao-Hsien, are reportedly on the list.
