'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers: Thea Queen To Become A Sociopath Villain? It's In The Genes, Says EP
Thea Queen has never been the same ever since she got healed by the Lazarus Pit last season. Now, spoilers claim that the changes on her mind and body will manifest in "Arrow" season 4.
Executive producer Wendy Mericle said Thea, played by Willa Holland, has the making of a sociopath.
"The interesting thing about Thea is that ultimately she's the by-product of Moira Queen and Malcolm Merlyn," Mericle said in an interview with Comic Book Resources when asked for "Arrow" season 4 spoilers concerning Thea and recurring villain Anarky.
"For her not to be a bonafide sociopath would be a sheer miracle of genetics. There's something very dark in her and it does resonate with her."
"What Anarky does and the lengths that he's gone to -- and the fact that she is ultimately responsible for giving birth to the character he becomes -- I think, despite her best intentions, it is part of her," she added.
In another interview, Mericle dished more spoilers saying that Thea's journey in "Arrow" season 4 is pretty much similar to what his brother Oliver went through in the show's first season.
"We've really likened her journey this season to what Oliver was going through in season 1, where she's trying to figure out where that line is for herself, morally and ethically, as a superhero," she told Entertainment Weekly.
"After episode 407, when Damien Darhk whammied her, she's not really had to deal with this in any sort of visceral way. It's going to come back to haunt her. She thinks she's cured the bloodlust, and what we're going to come to find out is the Lazarus Pit has a very lasting effect."
The EP added, "It's not going to leave her that easily. She's going to be grappling with some shocking new realities about the way it's manifesting itself in her body and what that means for her going forward."
Find out more about Thea in the next "Arrow" season 4 episode called "A.W.O.L.," which will air on Jan. 27.
