Jimmy Fallon’s Alcoholic Rumors Good For Chelsea Handler? Will He Lose His Position To Her?
While media outlets and even his former colleague tagged Jimmy Fallon an alcoholic, his boss defended his actions as normal and not something that would jeopardize his career.
"He goes out and has fun," NBC Boss Bob Greenblatt about the late night host's alleged drinking problem. "He's had some accidents. Aside from that, he's in better shape than he's ever been."
More than anything, the execs at the said broadcast station are worried about his safety because of the falls that he's been having. However, the stories were reportedly just "exaggerated."
Greenblatt further pointed out that Fallon will most likely be staying on air for a long time.
"Perhaps long after I leave NBC and some of you leave your jobs," he added.
However, recent reports suggested that another well-received talk show host was eyeing his position in the highly-rated show.
Radar Online claimed that Handler is already "ready" to take over "The Tonight Show" should Jimmy Fallon's alcoholic issues become too much to handle for the NBC show.
"Chelsea is rubbing her hands together with glee over Jimmy Fallon's fall from grace," a source allegedly told the rumor site. "Remember, Jay Leno was grooming her to take over when he retired and both of them were disappointed when it went to Jimmy."
The insider continued that should Fallon fall off the wagon, Handler is "available to take over anytime."
On the other hand, the former "Chelsea Lately" host already has a show to be busy with on Netflix. It won't be similar to his former E! show, however, as Rolling Stone reported.
"I am not being outrageous," she previously explained to People last November. "I am going to give viewers a younger, cooler '60 Minutes.'"
With Handler's new show seemingly already in place, it looks like Greenblatt's prediction that the talk show host will stay on TV for a long while still has some merit.
On the other hand, despite Jimmy Fallon's alcoholic rumors, ratings for "The Late Show" are still quite competitive.
