Manny Pacquiao Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Rematch Still A Possibility? Retirement Not Hindrance?
Rumors have it that the Manny Pacquiao - Floyd Mayweather, Jr. rematch might still happen despite Money's retirement and Pacman claiming to prepare for his last bout.
Pacquiao's next fight is scheduled on April 9 and he will be facing Timothy Bradley for the third time. And accordingly, the match will be his last. Mayweather Jr, on the other hand, bowed out from the sport last year but many think he will not stay away from it for a very long time.
"The way they both spend money, maybe they will fight again," Pacman's trainer Freddie Roach said during the press tour for the Manny Pacquiao - Timothy Bradley fight as reported by The Guardian.
"Manny is running for senator and that's going to cost him a lot of money. That's how votes go in his country: you pay for votes."
More than the money though, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr.'s rematch is allegedly possible because of their love for the game.
"You get really addicted to the sport, and it's very hard to retire," Roach added. "It's very hard to realize that you're all done. I remember when it happened to me. It should have happened a little earlier. It's a very addictive sport."
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has been firm with his decision to walk away from the game. He insisted he will not come out of retirement, not even for a rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
Their bout gave him his biggest pay day in his illustrated career.
"I'm not thinking about who I could fight or who I could come out of retirement for," he told Talk Sport. "I just want to get back into the sport in a different way."
"I've been fighting my whole life and as a professional I competed at the highest level for 20 years, so it's time for me to let the young guys take over. I will make seven figures a month for the rest of my life."
Mayweather, Jr. is currently handling up and coming boxing stars via his Mayweather Promotions.
