'The Flash' Movie Cast News: TV's Grant Gustin Releases Statement About Ezra Miller's Casting

"The Flash" movie's cast has been a hot topic since "The Fault In Our Stars" actor Ezra Miller was announced to headline the film last year.

Of course, fans of CW's "The Flash" series campaigned against Ezra's casting, demanding that TV's Grant Gustin should also play the role on the big screen.

According to Movie Pilot, the controversy began when Gustin favorited a few tweets from his supporters saying how he could have been an "amazing" Flash in the movie. As expected, fans mistook this as Grant taking stabs at Ezra and DC's decision to cast him.

Apparently, Grant was having none of it and set the record straight in a Twitter post.

"OK you guys. I hate having to explain myself, I don't think it's necessary most of the time," Grant wrote. "Especially on the Internet. I'm going to here because there are too many people that are saying things about me that aren't true."

"I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC," said the 26-year-old. "I've never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor. Would I have liked to play Barry Allen in a film? Sure. I love this character and it has changed my life and making movies and tv is something I hope to be fortunate enough to do for the rest of my life."

The "Glee" alum also explained why he favorited those tweets and clarified that it wasn't he wasn't throwing shade over Ezra's casting.

"I 'liked' some tweets from fans that expressed their support of me and said they would've enjoyed seeing me in the movie. Nothing of anyone "bashing" Ezra," he added. "I don't condone that type of behavior (especially on the Internet) and I definitely don't partake."

He also said that he's excited to see all of the upcoming DC movies, including Ezra's cinematic version of his character.

"I am a fan and it will be awesome," he added.

Ezra Miller's Flash will debut in "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" on March 25, 2016 and is expected to join the "Justice League Part One" cast on Nov. 17, 2017. "The Flash" solo movie arrives on March 23, 2018.
